Winter.

Snow,

It softly blankets the colourless soil,

Lifeless and cold after years of toil.

We age, and nurture a sense of fear

Still holding on to something dear.

.

I say, with my heart beginning to freeze:

Please

save

me.

.

.

Ice,

It carves through the landscape, now covered with silence

Still etched with the scars from years of violence

Landscapes are littered with ashes and steel

Like bruises and cuts beginning to heal.

.

I whisper, hoping someone would listen:

Please

take

me.

.

.

Winter,

Night by night, she calls my name,

Telling me: fear will stay the same

If only I knew how it felt back then

To be alive, and young again.

.

But the blizzard, it takes me by surprise

Beneath the snowflakes, I realize:

That I

am

free.
